The role will be responsible for working strategically and proactively with senior leaders and managers within the School to enable them to deliver School and departmental strategy.

The development of a Workforce Plan will be one key outcome and the areas of responsibility will cover the full range of employee lifecycle and people issues, including facilitating organisational change, this may include redundancy and TUPE, attraction recruitment and retention strategies, working collaboratively to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are central to all people issues, onboarding, induction, development.

Reward and recognition will also be a key people activity and the postholder will facilitate grading and remuneration in addition to other general issues relating to employment law and best practice.

The postholder will work closely and collaboratively with the Finance Business Partner for the area in supporting all leaders and managers across the business area.

In addition, there will also be some employee relations case work at all stages of the process. HRBPs will develop and maintain strong and effective working relationships with all stakeholders and will provide coaching and training, briefing sessions for managers in their departments and contribute to policy development for employees.

The HR OD team work with an in-house specialist teams in Resourcing and Talent Management HR Shared Services, Equality Diversity and Inclusion and Organisational Development. It provides a full reward and recognition service to the business.

Profile

With outstanding interpersonal skills, you will be a strong communicator, you will role model the values and develop excellent working relationships at all levels within the organisation.

You will also be expected to develop a strong professional network outside of the business to develop your practice and continuous development.

You will also use your analytical skills to provide and interpret people analytics data, which will inform data driven strategic workforce planning that you will create in association with senior leaders in you the business areas you partner.

You will partner the Resourcing and Talent Management team to provide a best-in-class employee experience throughout the employee life cycle.

The HR Partner is expected to be confident, knowledgeable and experienced in HR processes and procedures and quickly able to adapt to University specific policies and procedures. Y

You will possess strong UK Employment Law knowledge and be fully conversant with the current immigration and visa regulations and be able to find creative solutions to people problems that are not only legally compliant but leading edge.

Wide experience of advising line managers on the full range of staffing issues in a complex organisation (ideally within a unionised environment).

CIPD Level 7 qualification or willingness to work towards it.

Excellent judgement in HR matters with a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of employment law and good practice

Professional and proactive approach to enabling managers to achieve their objectives, through coaching, and the provision of HR advice that is prompt, persuasive, effective, and evaluates risk 4

Able to develop effective and constructive working relationships at all levels of the University and to influence events, particularly at the senior management level

First-hand experience of providing HR support for organisational change

Analytical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving ability equivalent to those derived from holding a good honours degree, membership of the CIPD, and wide professional experience

A keen awareness of the broader implications of specific HR matters in the context of a wide range of organisational environments

The ability to communicate concisely, effectively and persuasively in writing as well as orally

Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, and progress a high volume of complex issues to successful resolution

Good attention to detail.
