Description

As Pensions Specialist, you will assist the Reward & Pensions Manager in the operation of the company's pension arrangements including responsibility for pension systems and processes, acting as a key point of contact for pension queries, managing supplier/adviser relationships, supporting the ongoing governance of the company Pension Scheme and deputising for the Reward & Pensions Manager as required.

Pension Scheme:

The Pension Scheme is a closed, defined benefit pension scheme with c.£2.5 billion assets and c.15,000 members. Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Reward & Pensions Manager in their role as Secretary to the Trustees.
  • Coordinating Trustee and Sub-Committee meetings including creating meeting agendas, liaising with advisers, creating and issuing meeting papers, producing minutes and tracking actions.
  • Acting as secretary to the Audit & Operations Sub-Committee.
  • Managing the relationship with the Scheme's outsourced administrator, Hymans Robertson, including resolving benefit queries and managing service levels.
  • Overseeing the production of the Scheme's annual Report and Accounts together with audit sign-off and production of associated documentation.
  • Leading on the creation of the Scheme's annual member newsletter.
  • Maintaining the Scheme's risk register and following up actions.
  • Overseeing the Scheme's governance arrangements, including compliance with the Pensions Regulator's single Code of Practice (when in force).
  • Overseeing the Scheme's GDPR and cyber-security compliance.

Corporate Matters:

The company currently operates two pension arrangements - a group stakeholder scheme with Scottish Widows (c.£135 million assets and c.2,800 members) and an occupational master trust with The People's Pension (c.£25 million assets and c.1,800 members). Responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of all aspects of scheme maintenance including managing the new joiner process, all payroll actions and uploading of interface files.
  • Proactively managing the pensions helpline and mailbox to ensure a high level of service to current and former employees.
  • Acting as day-to-day contact for Scottish Widows and The People's Pension.
  • Acting as secretary to the Pensions Governance Committee including creating meeting agendas, issuing meeting papers, producing minutes and following up actions.
  • Overseeing the timely payment of invoices (both Scheme and Company), ensuring that all relevant invoices are recharged to the Scheme and working with the Reward & Pensions Manager to monitor the Scheme/Company budget.
  • Coordinating and processing annual bonus waivers.
  • Actively reviewing and updating the pension information on the Company Intranet and external websites to ensure that it accurately reflects the pension plans and processes.
  • Working with the Pensions Manager to identify relevant pension management information and liaise with external providers/internal systems to ensure that management information is regularly provided / collated.
  • Ensuring that the in-house pension records are maintained in an organised manner including the archiving of historic materials.
  • It is anticipated that the Pensions Specialist will be required to support the wider work of the Reward department, including project work, as applicable.

Our client operates an agile working policy so remote working of up to 3 days per week can be accommodated.

Role to be located in either of the High Wycombe or Warwick offices. Expectation of travel to other offices as required.

Profile

To apply for the Pensions Specialist role in High Wycombe, your profile will closely match:

  • Good pensions experience - either via a consultancy/administrator or in-house.
  • Exceptional administrative and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Achieved or working towards a relevant pension qualification (such as PMI) - this would be advantageous.
  • Able to work proactively and take initiative.
  • Able to manage a varied workload and deliver to deadlines.
  • Able to build relationships with key stakeholders (advisers, Trustees, internal) and support the wider work of the Reward team.
