Your new role
This is an opportunity to join a motivated and supportive HR team, providing proactive, commercially driven HR advice and support to legal teams within the firm - enabling effective, business focused people solutions in line with supporting our strategy. What You'll Do:
Day to day you will be working in close collaboration with senior partners across the firm including Group, Team and Sector leaders, as well as other HR Business Partners, the HR Director and the wider HR, Recruitment and L&D teams. As an integral part of the HR Business Partner team, you will be actively encouraged to contribute to and support the delivery of the HR strategy in line with our overarching business objectives. With strong commercial insights gained from experience within a dynamic professional services or similar environment, you will understand business requirements, external markets, current trends and HR best practice, and be supported to proactively identify opportunities to shape Group/Team strategies and improve performance. Developing effective relationships with key stakeholders is essential in this role, as you will be working daily and on a direct basis with senior leaders and HR colleagues to proactively plan and support the successful implementation of Group strategies to ensure the business has the capacity and agility to meet current and future business challenges. This will include working with Group, Team and Sector leaders to:

  • identify opportunities and areas of improvement which will drive enhanced organisational and people performance and business results.
  • identify resourcing needs and work in partnership with the Recruitment Team to define recruitment activities which ensure the quality of hires are continually enhancing our talent pools.
  • engage, advise and support with strategies which actively attract, retain and develop a diverse workforce.
  • drive and deliver HR initiatives in support of business needs, such as talent development, talent mapping, succession planning, employee engagement, leadership development and organisational change.

Provide guidance and coaching on employee relations and HR issues in line with our policies and best practice, including performance and/or absence management, disciplinary & grievance.

What you'll need to succeed
HR Business Partners are trusted and visible advisors, providing relevant and responsive support, coaching and mentoring to senior management, with a strong focus on fostering collaborative working relationships at all levels. As an experienced HR Business Partner with demonstrable expertise in a professional services or similarly specialist business, you are accustomed to being proactive in driving and delivering pragmatic people solutions. You will appreciate and understand the context and significance of organisation and corporate strategy, having gained experience of aligning business and HR approaches to identify current and future risks and opportunities. You can readily demonstrate strong commercial awareness and business acumen which enables you to provide considered, proportionate and informed advice and support at the right time. Being accustomed to working directly with senior business leaders and all levels of business stakeholders, you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and have shown your ability to build and continually strengthen effective working relationships through active listening, analysis and problem-solving skills. You have gained experience of working responsively in a fast-paced environment, and are adept at organising yourself and your time effectively, prioritising your workload regularly to ensure you are meeting the most urgent needs across the business in a timely way. Technically, you will possess a strong working understanding of employment law, human resources & change management, and are likely to have attained or be working towards Chartered CIPD status as a reflection of this level of experience. Personally highly motivated, you'll naturally seek to keep yourself up to date with relevant developments in the legal market and provide analysis, advice and guidance to help shape the further evolution of our compensation and benefits strategy. You will also:

  • Be a motivated and proactive team player who appreciates how and when to seek support as well as knowing when to support others.

  • Have the professional confidence to provide constructive challenge as needed, being able to influence/persuade senior managers using a range of influencing strategies to shape effective HR and business solutions
  • Project a highly professional presentation and communication style, with experience of building effective HR 'business partnering' relationships with key people at a senior level within the business and within the HR team
  • Be able to evidence your proactivity in identifying ways to drive better business performance
  • Be able to travel regularly to other office locations
  • Measure effectiveness and seek feedback from others on progress and input into designing and developing improvements.
