I'm pleased to share that I'm currently supporting a highly renowned Professional Services firm in the search for their Interim Head of HR for a 12 month maternity cover contract

The HR team provides a first class service to the business, offering strategic HR business advice at the business partner level and quality support services in the full range of HR functions through specialist teams such as, learning & development, resourcing, reward, employee relations advice, payroll, systems and HR administration.



Role context and purpose

Responsible for providing strategic leadership and implementation of all aspects of Human Resources support for the London and Global Corporate Practice Groups.



Role and responsibilities

Working closely with the Global Corporate Managing Partners to define and implement global people strategy for the Practice Group including:

  • Design input to business modelling and planning
  • Identification and mapping of talent and succession pipeline with implementation
  • Facilitation of the Practice Group's culture through HR initiatives
  • Support of the leadership of the Practice Group
  • Support of the design (as appropriate) & attendance of global partner conferences/ meetings
  • Attendance at and facilitation of Global Practice Group Management and Global Corporate Board meetings for HR

initiatives

  • Analysis and translation of global business reporting to aid business decisions
  • Advising in all HR matters (particularly in relation to risk and cost) related to the management of the Practice Group
  • Supporting local and global management to influence the development of performance, recognition and reward policies and programmes for the benefit of the group and advising on local implementation.

Work as a fully integrated and trusted advisor to the partners within the Practice Group by:

  • Advising in all HR matters (particularly in relation to risk and cost) related to the recruitment, development and retention of individuals within the Practice Group and facilitating issue resolution through the central HR teams
  • Identification and proactive resolution of group issues/ themes
  • Supporting partners to deliver effective staff management processes and messages
  • Providing strategic input to influence the design of firm wide projects for the benefit of the Practice Group and working with the HRD/ Central HR/ other business teams to ensure smooth implementation
  • Collaborating and liaising with the other support heads in the Practice Group in provision of a coherent and coordinated service to the Practice Group and the firm, including Business Development, Finance, Know-How and the Group Manager.
  • Leading the Practice Group HR team and acting as a mentor/advisor to the wider HR community
  • Contributing to the development of the Global HR function and the service it provides to the business

Working with the Partner Matters Unit and Partners' Affairs and Tax team to support HR issues within the global partner group including:

  • Leading partner reviews and advising senior management in the support and development of partners
  • Facilitation of individual partner development requirements through the Central PL&D team (including coaching)
  • Advising and supporting management on performance, employee relations, remuneration and equity management discussions for individual partners.

Ownership, design and implementation of the annual global HR processes for partners in the Practice Group including:

  • Managing the Partnership Selection process with the Global Corporate Managing Partners, including briefing and preparing candidates and their sponsors, design and implementation of the panel and assessments and supporting newly promoted partners into the business
  • Managing the Equity Progression process with the Global Corporate Managing Partners, including briefing and preparing candidates and their sponsors and design and implementation of the panel and assessments
  • Managing the Counsel and PSL Counsel Promotion processes for the Practice Group, including briefing and preparing candidates and their sponsors, design and implementation of the panel and assessments and supporting newly promoted Counsel/ PSL Counsel into the business
  • Managing search and selection activities for lateral partners (and senior hires as appropriate with the support of the Central Resources team) with presentation of a supporting business case to the PSI, candidate interaction including remuneration negotiations and integration and development of new hires to the business.
