We are currently supporting our client who are one of the largest Multi-Academy Trusts in England. We are looking for an experienced Interim HR Regional Business Partner for its People Directorate to work across different regions. The appointed candidate will work closely with the Regional Director.



JOB PURPOSE:

As part of our clients People Directorate, the HRBP will provide generalist HR support in areas including employee relations, leadership development and HR best practice in the Region. The HRBP will play an important role in ensuring that people management issues are fully incorporated into local regional strategy. The HRBP will take a lead role in both implementing BP clustering and supporting other services and academies in doing so too.



SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Development and Leadership

* To contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies and policies, ensuring they comply with employment law and best practice, and are aligned with our clients ethos, needs, and business objectives.

* To work with the Regional Director to develop staffing structures, job roles and contractual arrangements that best meet the changing needs of the business. To help manage change in a way that balances the fundamentals of our clients ethos, legal, contractual and trade union matters with practical considerations.

* To assist the Director of People and Organisational Development, Head of People services and Lead Business Partner in the development and delivery of a People strategy aligned to the business' current and future needs.

* To take the lead in supporting and advising senior leaders on specific organisational changes, including trade union negotiations within the region, restructures, Tupe transfers, job design and conditions of employment where necessary.

* In conjunction with the Regional Director to develop an HR risk register for the Region, ensuring that high level risks are escalated as appropriate.

* To lead, manage and develop the new HR function in the Region. To include line managing and mentoring the Cluster Leads, and ensuring the latter manage any direct reportees effectively

* To be responsible for own learning and continuing professional development.

* To capture and share best practice both within the regions and across our client nationally.

* To lead on a key national HR strategic area.

* To coach senior leaders in all areas of people management

* To train managers on specific HR policies

* Support national office in policy development



B. Advisory Duties

* To act as an internal expert, providing advice, guidance and practical support to the Regional Director, Principals and senior staff on all people management and employment law issues including discipline, grievance, attendance and performance management, learning and development, restructure and redundancy ensuring that all processes are conducted in accordance with the our clients ethos and the 9 Habits

* To act as the interface between national HR services and academies ensuring that the relationship between the regional, local and the national BP services is proactively managed

* To review and improve the provision and use of People Metrics and other management information in order to inform regional development and People priorities.

* To advise on and sit on shortlisting and interview panels as required for Principals and other key relevant leaderships posts in the region.

* To proactively support and advise leadership teams on highly complex employee relations cases.



C. Communication and Relationships

* In conjunction with the National Recruitment Team, keep abreast of recruitment issues in the Region with a particular focus on cost-efficiency, the use of new technology and developing ways of attracting a diverse and high calibre range of applicants.

* To contribute to a positive employee relations culture, locally respecting current formal and informal channels of communication with recognised Trade Union representatives, whilst also developing new models for communicating with and engaging staff of our client in the Region.

* To champion employee wellbeing and to escalate issues to the Regional Director and Head of People services where significant, collective problems are arising and help develop appropriate and fair solutions



D. Safeguarding children and young people

Our client is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo appropriate checks, including an enhanced DBS check.

* To take a key role in ensuring that we are meeting our safeguarding and Keep Children Safe in Education statutory obligations through the following:

o Delivering training in Safer Recruitment

o Ensuring that Principals, Operations Managers and Cluster HR Leads are keeping Single Central records and personnel folders up to date and in compliance with pertinent data protection, safeguarding and immigration laws.

o Supporting RD's in holding leadership teams to account on these key issues.
