Head of People Services/Public Sector/ Band 8B

Your new company
Hays HR are recruiting a Head of People Services for our Public Sector client. Reporting into the Deputy Director of People; based in Pontypridd; The successful candidate will lead the provision of professional, people focussed value adding services across the Health Board, through their leadership of the People Services Team, focussed on solving operational challenges the post holder will drive strategic people developments and plans to ensure improved engagement, management and availability of our people across the organisation. This role is a Permanent/Hybrid role/Band 8B.

Your new role
The successful candidate will ensure that a culture of ongoing continuous improvement is embedded, and policies and processes transformed to ensure they support modern, professional workforce practices. Through a transformed professional offering, the post holder will develop and monitor key performance indicators that enable improvement and use data to develop evidenced based plans. The post holder will also provide expert workforce and OD contributions and be able to influence and enable the achievement of the strategic people deliverables developed to improve organisational performance.

The team will work in a way that is flexible with an agile allocation of professional input according to the need.he post holder and will lead a team according to our organisational values and ensure that we are supporting a just and learning culture and that we evaluate the impact of our interactions to ensure the team is making the right difference and enabling managers to be the best that they can be. The successful candidate will lead the provision of professional, people focussed value provide valuable advice and expertise on high profile organisational change processes, service re-design, service delivery and complex employee relations cases, ensuring that impact to the workforce is managed correctly, sensitively and as efficiently as possible. Build strong and effective working relationships with all stakeholders in the development and delivery of the People agenda including positive partnership working with Trade Union representatives,work closely with Directors, senior clinicians, managers and staff across the organisation and shape the future delivery of best people employment practices.

What you'll need to succeed
Educated to Masters level in a relevant subject or equivalent practical experience in a Workforce and OD environment Evidence of continuing professional development/ Membership of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Expert knowledge of workforce issues and the terms and conditions which govern workforce.

Leadership experience of Workforce/HR Teams. Expert knowledge of workforce issues and the terms and conditions which govern workforce Delivery of change within People function Coaching. Previous Experience Delivery of service improvement within People services.

Evidence of analytical reasoning and effective decision-making skills Highly developed communication skills, written and verbal Effective influencing, negotiating and consultation skills Strategic awareness of UK/NHS Wales issues Strategic thinking and contextual understanding of NHS Workforce issues. IT literacy and standard keyboard skills. Self-motivated and resilient Evidence of effective leadership skills, teambuilding skills and ability to develop others. Effective interpersonal and influencing skills. Ability to negotiate and build alliances. Ability to facilitate the capability and development of people skills in line managers. Able to demonstrate the University Health Board values and behaviours.
