I have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR Advisor to join a prestigious college, based in South East London. Location is key here as you'll be expected on site 5 days a week, due to the nature of the role. If you're a self-starter with a proactive approach, this could be the perfect role for you.

The purpose of the role is to advise on the delivery of a comprehensive Human Resources service to all staff that facilitates and enables effective people management, promotes good practice and HR policy awareness.

Key responsibilities:

Administration

* Advise managers and staff on terms and conditions, policies, employment law and best practice.

* Undertake administrative tasks associated with the Human Resources function i.e. changes to terms and conditions of employment, leavers, maternity etc

* Update and maintain manual and computerised HR information systems and assist with developing them

* Conduct audits to ensure accurate records are held by the HR department

* Identify and recommend changes to current systems and procedures to ensure high standards of service are maintained

* Ensure that the HR pages on the organisations intranet remain informative and up to date

Learning and Development

* Perform inductions with new members of staff

* Undertake and participate in HR and training projects as agreed with the Head of HR

Policy and Employee Relations

* Provide support and advice to managers in line with legislation, policy and best practice

* Ensure compliance with current and forthcoming employment legislation

* Draft policies when required

* Manage disciplinary, grievance, appeal cases including all administration tasks with agreement of the Head of HR

* Attend disciplinary and grievance meetings when required

* Ensure policies adhere to legislation and best practice

Recruitment

* Prepare adverts and job descriptions in conjunction with managers and organise for adverts to be placed

* Process applications

* Schedule and organise interviews, interviewing candidates where appropriate

* Assist the compliance administrator to conduct the necessary pre-employment checks (references, right to work in the UK etc) where necessary

* Prepare correspondence for all applicants

* Draw up offer letters and contracts )

* Assist the compliance administrator by obtaining Disclosure and Barring checks, references and other regulatory documentation

* Ensure clearance to work emails are issued

* Ensure compliance with current and forthcoming regulations

Additional Duties:

* Conduct exit interviews

* Benchmark salaries against market rate and recommend changes as and when necessary

* Undertake additional duties as might be reasonably requested by the Head of HR

About you:

Essential Qualifications and Experience

* Broad generalist HR experience

* Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice

* Experience of working to tight deadlines under pressure

* Experience of multi-tasking and reprioritising at short notice

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

* CIPD qualified

* Experience of working in an independent school and/or sympathetic to the ethos of an independent school

Essential Technical Skills (including computer packages, if applicable)

* MS office, particularly Word and Excel

* Hands on experience of operating and developing a computerised HR information system (iTrent knowledge would be an advantage)
