This Sawtry based Education and training organisation are looking for a permanent Payroll Manager with ideally some HR knowledge/experience to support the companies process and function improvement over the next few years, with a strong base and ability to offer great flexibility, staff welfare and support this is the ideal role for a payroll specialist with some HR knowledge.

Client Details

This Education and Training organisation are based in Sawtry in-between Peterborough and Huntingdon and have a great company culture of supporting staff whilst offering great services to their customers. Working with a full functioning HR and Finance function this Payroll Manager role will aim to lead on payroll related matters whilst driving efficiency's, ideally leading and driving a new payroll system implementation.

Description

Payroll Manager key duties and responsibilities;

  • Manage the monthly Payroll and lead on Pension matters alongside the finance and HR team
  • Support the organisation to embark on a new payroll system implementation
  • To be the HR lead in ensuring that payroll processes are reviewed for effectiveness
  • To be the expert on payroll matters and ensure compliance.
  • To keep up to date with changes to terms and conditions that may affect pay and employment legislation
  • To be responsible for training new HR officers either by Tupe or appointment in payroll administration.
  • On occasions undertaking payroll input to support the team
  • Responsible for line management of Core HR team, providing support and coaching including the performance management process. In the short-term absence of an HR Officer provide additional support to the core team as needed.
  • Work with HR colleagues to ensure that the core office is adequately covered on a day-to-day basis.

Profile

The successful Payroll Manager will have a mix of the following experience and characteristics to flourish in this position

  • The ability to manage a payroll form start to finish for a multi site organisation with full knowledge of payroll and pension legislation (Ideally for a defined benefit pension scheme)
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills to include the creation of spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of HR processes and integrated HR/Payroll systems. Working knowledge of an external payroll portal.
  • Excellent and up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and best HR practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Great attention to detail to ensure accurate Payroll provision
  • Experience of leading/ being involved in the implementation of a new payroll system would be a large bonus but non essential
