HR Team Leader, Public Sector, Ipswich/Hybrid, £38,926-41,496, Temp until August, Perm Potential.

Your new company
Hays are partnering with a not-for-profit education trust with schools across both Suffolk and London. We are looking for a HR Team leader to support their HR Director in delivering an efficient HR service. Through the implementation and regulation of HR initiatives, this trust looks to develop and sustain great schools across the East!

This role requires you to work in both Ipswich and London, with 3 days expected across both offices and an offering of hybrid working. You will primarily be based within a set school, but there may be an expectation to travel between trust sites.

Your new role
The HR Team leader, reporting to the HR Director, is responsible for the efficient running of the local HR team, inclusive of HR officers, and HR Assistants. You will ensure that the team delivers an operational HR service to all those within the trust. You will be the local expert in relation to case work, and support the director in a variety of trust-wide HR projects.

As part of your role, you can expect the following duties:

  • Line management responsibilities of both Officers and Assistants
  • Recruitment
  • Provision of operational HR service
  • Trust policy and procedure reviews
  • Payroll liaison
  • Timely updating of HR system
  • High quality HR advice, coaching, and support to all stakeholders trust-wide
  • Chair HR meetings
  • Provision of management information/data collection
  • Conduct job evaluations
  • Staff census
  • Training and development of staff
  • HR project support
  • Any duties commensurate with grade of position.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed, you will hold a CIPD qualification or similar, have experience of managing staff, and have substantial experience of advising managers on a broad range of HR procedures. You will be proficient is all areas of generalist HR, and have demonstrable experience within HR contract administration.

You will have knowledge of payroll collation, and be up to date with employment law and best practice.

Ultimately, you will have a good appreciation of the need for confidentially, and have excellent interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication.

What you'll get in return
In return, you will receive an equivalent rate of £38,926-41,496, plus other benefits. This role has a likelihood of going permanent.
