Your new role
This is a great opportunity for a Payroll Consultant to join our HR and Payroll services team on a full time and fixed term contract basis (until 31/03/2024). This role is based within a friendly team, and it will be offered on a flexible and hybrid working basis.

As a Payroll Consultant, you will support and assist a high quality and efficient HR and Payroll service to all Departments within the Council and other external customers by anticipating issues arising and finding ways to remedy them. You will assist the Payroll Consultants, Payroll & Pension Manager and HR Service Manager, Analytics and Payroll in ensuring that all HR and Payroll transactions are processed in an efficient, effective and timely manner with minimum supervision but within the context of priorities of the HR & Payroll service.

You will also compile and monitor employee records and the HR/Payroll system, maintaining the quality and accuracy of data, and assist in the provision of management information as required by customers or National and statutory bodies, within the relevant targets and deadlines. You will assist in the implementation of policies and processes that maximise the effectiveness of the integrated HR/Payroll system as directed and also ensure that all Payroll and HR transactions are processed in an efficient, effective and timely manner.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you must have good working knowledge of payroll processes, procedures and the legislation or relevant finance experience. Experience in prioritising and managing a number of issues at one time as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines is essential for this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skill are vital for this role as you will be liaising with variety of stakeholders.

It is essential that the successful candidate possesses a payroll qualification (or is working towards obtaining a qualification) or has worked previously in a similar role.
