Job Details

A proactive Senior People (HR) Advisor to join a growing IT infrastructure business - remote / Southampton.

Your new company

My client is a growing infrastructure business who offer bespoke communications, IT and cloud-based services to their trusted partners across the UK.

The business continue to grow and are an innovative and multi-award-winning wholesaler and distributor of communications, cloud, billing and hardware products and services. They work in a fast-paced and exciting industry and are proud to have forged strategic partnerships and relationships with many of the UK's top brands.

The business strives to be a great place to work and create a culture where people can bring their best self to work, enabling people to achieve as much as they can. In particular, the HR (People) team want to bring the best people together and provide resources and access to things to make them thrive.

Your new role

As the Senior People (HR) Advisor, you will report to a People (HR) Business Partner, working alongside 2 x colleagues in identical roles and with support from 3 x People Coordinators.

This is a remote role with rare travel to 1 of 6 UK sites (only 2-3 times / quarter), but you can also be based out of their new Southampton office 2-3 days / week if you prefer.

This is a highly visible position that will liaise with individuals right across the organisation so my client is looking for somebody who can communicate and influence at all levels across the business and demonstrate tangible results.

Role responsibilities:

  • Advise Line Managers on managing probationary periods for all new starters
  • Co-ordinate and assist in the undertaking of exit interviews for all leavers and provide reports on leaving trends
  • Support HR case work (absence management, investigation, disciplinary etc) by acting as note-taker and adviser
  • Provide employment law advice to Line Managers on employee relations issues
  • Assist with and manage sickness absence cases and ill health capability issues
  • Liaise with Occupational Health as required
  • Organise and manage all aspects of family friendly processes including maternity, paternity, adoption, and parental leave
  • Have a thorough understanding of HR law in relation to contracts, terms and conditions, discrimination, dismissal processes, grievances etc.
  • Liaise and assist Line Managers on performance management processes
  • Assist with annual HR policy review
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as and when required

Working hours: 40 / week. 9am-5pm including 30-minute lunch (Monday-Friday) with flexibility considered for start / finish times.

What you'll need to succeed

You must be a proactive, self-starter with excellent attention to detail and someone who can work autonomously and independently, but also enjoys collaborating well with a wider team. You need to have strong experience in a similar HR / People role and be CIPD Level 5 qualified (minimum). This is an ER biased role, so experience of leading complex Employee Relations case work and having worked on restructures / consultations and redundancies are essential. Knowledge of TUPE will be an advantage too.

This position also requires someone who is digitally savvy, has the ability to support / coach people effectively and has a deep knowledge of current UK employment law.

What you'll get in return

This is a rare opportunity for a Senior People (HR) Advisor to join a growing, award-winning business who work with some of the leading brands in the UK.

You will receive a market-leading salary of £40,000 (DOE), pension 5% employee / 3% employer, 25 days holiday +BH's (increasing 1 day / year to 30) with the option to buy additional holiday too. Other generous benefits include: no dress code, extra days off for life events, a free flu jab, online discounts to pretty much anything you want to buy, EAP, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, recognition schemes and volunteer days off.
