Standalone HR Manager - SME Pharma company
A great opportunity to lead an HR function for a successful SME Pharma company. Mix of strategic and operational HR activities. The HR function already runs smoothly, so on top of the BAU HR work, this is a great chance to build up the existing operations and add real value.
Hybrid working in Reading - 3 days p/w in the office - parking provided.

Standalone HR Manager - SME Pharma company

The main purpose of this role includes:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Responsible for managing the day to day HR function in the UK.
  • Lead HR processes.
  • Data Protection Officer.
  • Input into and support Region UK and corporate business strategy.
  • Help build capabilities of company employees.
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
  • Have processes in place that comply with appropriate legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure provision of competitively bench-marked policies and practices commensurate with the size of the business.
  • Be profit conscious.

Regular areas of focus will therefore involve:

  • To be responsible for the management of the lifecycle of employees.
  • Recruitment.
  • New starter process (including contracts of employment).
  • Induction.
  • Leaving process (including Exit Interviews).
  • Development of HR policies and practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring all GDPR processes are followed.
  • Responsible for all Health and Safety issues and liaising with Health and Safety consultants for advice in relation to specific issues.
  • Responsible for updating the Company Employment Guide and ensuring this complies with current UK legislation.
  • Process owner for creating and updating contracts of employment.
  • Process owner for the appraisal procedure and the salary review system.
  • Responsible for liaising with lawyers on legal issues.
  • Responsible for absence management and liaising with Occupational Health.
  • Process owner for all benefits packages and liaising with broker in relation to these.
  • Producing information for HR statistics and salary surveys.
  • Management of HR budget.
  • Responsibility for training. Provision of relevant HR training and logistical support for other training needs.

This role is based in central Reading with hybrid working in place - 3 days per week in the office, 2 days working from home.
There will be occasional travel to the Nottingham site.

Profile

To apply for this role - Standalone HR Manager - SME Pharma company - your profile will closely match the following:

  • Proven working experience as HR Manager (or similar).
  • Used to working in a Senior HR capacity in a standalone HR role (or leading a small team) for an SME business.
  • Can evidence excellent Generalist experience including developing and delivering a HR strategy, recruitment, L&D, ER, performance management, managing all elements of the annual HR cycle.
  • You will need to be happy being hands-on and operational, as well as creating the HR strategy.
  • Strong partnering and stakeholder management skills - competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases (Oracle preferred).
  • Professional CIPD qualified, or studying towards.
  • Appropriate evidence of continuous learning.
  • Experience working in the world of Pharma or Life Science would be advantageous.

Job Offer

  • Car allowance - £748 per month - circa £9K per annum.
