This job is offering hybrid working initially and then will move to largely remote if this suits you better. The aim of this role is to progress you into the HR Manager, so this role is great for development and growth. Flexible working options available. This role will start off hybrid (2 days in office) and then can move to mostly remote (one or twice a month) if you wish.


Your new role
This is a crucial role within the organisation. As Senior HR Advisor you will have the skills and ambition to drive forward significant developments in the HR function in order to enable the Charity to attain its values and mission. You will work closely with the HR Director and the HR Administrator as well as interacting with the Trading Director and Retail Area Managers. This role requires good leadership and organisational skills, knowledge of up to date HR practices and employment law with an ability to give sound practical advice and collaborate with teams.

  • Working with the HR Director and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the employee and volunteer life cycle is well supported. Including safe recruitment and onboarding, training and development, performance development, grievance and disciplinary procedures etc.
  • Assisting the HR Director in the development, implementation and sustaining of the overall People Strategy.
  • Supporting business improvement in cross-organisation projects, upholding charity values and having a broad organisation view.
  • Continuous improvement and integration of people policies and processes and all transactional human resources work.
  • Ensuring fit for purpose, managers are able to understand and implement and that they enable staff to develop and thrive while ensuring the organisation complies with its legal obligations.
  • Helping to maximise organisational effectiveness and efficiency through the use of efficient HR systems e.g e-learning platforms and HR Databases.
  • Keeping up to date expertise in human resources and Employment Law, drawing on external expertise and peers where needed.
  • Ensuring employment contracts are kept up to date.
  • Assisting the HR Director with advice and research on remuneration and benefits process and current best practices in respect of these.
  • Supporting the building of a committed volunteer base and helping drive the organisation towards being a disability-confident employer.
  • Working with the leadership team to promote a values based culture of equality, diversity, ambition and safety, supporting colleagues to build a solid and effective HR team.


What you'll need to succeed
You will have commitment to the mission, vision, and values. Proven working experience as an HR Advisor. People oriented with a desire to work in a supportive and collaborative manner. Able to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
