Director of HR - Operations, Pay and Reward

Location: London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Belfast, or Cardiff                                      

Salary: £73,000 - £92,540 per annum

Hours: Full time / Part time / Flexible

Our work is high profile, continually evolving and intellectually stimulating with a regular presence in national media and of interest around the world. We are facing far-reaching changes in our external operating environment, gaining new powers under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Bill 2023 and expanding our presence in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, setting up a new office in Manchester and creating a new Microeconomics Unit as part of the government’s Economic Campus in Darlington.

The Director of HR - Operations, Pay and Reward post is a key role within our expanding senior leadership team in People, Capability and Culture. Our aim is to ensure we attract fantastic talent to deliver our ambitious plans and provide a brilliant employee experience for everyone that works at the CMA. As Director of HR - Operations, Pay and Reward, you will develop and lead the CMA’s pay and reward strategy, whilst delivering a cutting-edge HR Operations service ensuring the CMA continues to build its capacity, culture and capability and possesses an employee experience it can be proud of.

You can expect to work closely with Executive Committee colleagues, the CMA board and a broad range of stakeholders to shape our people ambitions and the brilliant experience we want every CMA employee to have. 

To be successful in this role, you should have substantial experience of leading an HR Operations service in a fast-paced high volume and high-quality requirement environment, in either a professional services, Civil Service, or other public sector organisation. You will possess demonstrable experience of developing, establishing and implementing new pay and reward strategies, as well as experience of being accountable for the navigation of pension schemes, providing complex advice to colleagues. Equally important will be your excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills.

Director of HR - Business Partnering and Recruitment Services

In this role, you will develop and lead the CMA’s attraction strategy through best-in-class recruitment services and deliver high quality, expert and agile HR business partnering services.

To be successful in this role, you should have substantial experience of leading the delivery of an organisational recruitment strategy, involving the acquisition of scarce and / or hard to recruit professional skills, knowledge, and experience. Additionally, you should have substantial experience in leading a business partnering service, demonstrating a track record of both business partner capability building and staff management capability building.  You will also possess substantial employee relations experience with experience of working closely with trade unions and staff representative bodies.  

Director of Organisational Development

In this role, you will develop and lead the CMA’s organisational development strategy, ensuring the CMA continues to build its culture and capability and possesses an employee experience it can be increasingly proud of.  

To be successful in this role, you should have substantial experience of leading organisational development activity in fast-paced environments in either a professional services, Civil Service, or other public sector organisation. You should also have demonstrable experience of co-creating and ensuring delivery of inclusion, learning, and change programmes, as well as experience of leading others and a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
