Head of People - Leading Construction Company

Your new company
Hays are delighted to be working a leading building and civil engineering contractor to recruit for their Head of People.

Your new role
As Head of People, you will be responsible for the following:
* Manage the HR, L&D and recruitment teams, providing expert support and guidance
* Provide a consultative service to senior staff on people matters
* Oversee the effective management of the HR team to meet compliance and regulatory requirements
* Hold regular meetings and development plans for direct reports and their staff
* Complete monthly HR & Development department reports
* Be a point of contact for directors and senior managers
* Provide effective communication on people matters to promote understanding and engagement with the HR people plan
* Champion change and development in HR systems and ways of working in the team and across the wider organisation

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this Head of People role with have the following:
* Experience as a senior HR professional with the ability to successfully deliver objectives to agreed timescales
* Demonstrable skill in managing a broad range of people related issues, and the ability to communicate and influence others
* Experience in managing and developing people, and in leading a team
* Ability to think and operate strategically and tactically
* Strong leadership skills, with an appreciation that the focus of leadership is on unlocking the talents and building the capacity in others
* Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the leadership team and with peers
* Resilient and able to initiate and influence change.
