A commercially astute HR Manager to join a global manufacturing business in Portsmouth.

Your new role

The successful HR Manager will be located at their head office in Portsmouth, responsible for supporting the UK business and its organisational requirements and the European team. The role will utilise and understand business strategies to assess HR implications and address issues by providing objective and practical solutions. You will be the HR lead with support from a HR Assistant / EA.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the European HR contact with international teams.
  • Understand the organisation's business strategies to provide HR insights and solutions to business challenges.
  • Coordinate with international teams to craft organisation-wide strategies, objectives and alignment with all central HR requirements.
  • Ensure timely and clear communication within the business units on HR policies, practices and new initiatives.
  • Develop, recommend, and seek improvement and adjustments to meet UK/ European norms for HR policies, procedures and programs to enhance employee satisfaction and support operational objectives.
  • Maintain familiarity and compliance with all UK and (related) European employment laws to ensure effective and timely employment actions and decisions.
  • Support employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, compensation and benefits programs, and disciplinary actions to ensure consistent and fair treatment of all employees
  • Support the annual talent review, manage and track the annual KPI program and report to all managers.
  • Provide HR support and assistance for developing regional business hubs in European countries.
  • Define onboarding procedures in alignment with the company culture
  • Determine training plans with central HR
  • Manage manual monthly reports using necessary data input and reporting using applicable HR systems.
  • Act as an advocate for career development by coaching managers on career planning, individual development plans, and succession planning.

Working hours are 40 / week, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. Due to the nature of the business, this role is predominantly based in their Portsmouth office 4 days / week, but offers 1 day / week WFH.

This position will require travel once every couple of months in Europe and internationally, so flexibility and a willingness to travel is required.


What you'll need to succeed

A CIPD qualification is preferred, but you must have at least 5 years' experience in a HR role or function, ideally with some knowledge of European employment legislation and having worked with employees in Europe.
