Purpose of post:  

•    To support the aims and objectives of the HR function, contributing significantly to the organisations strategic aims and outcomes. Assisting with the development, implementation and actioning of policies and procedures. 

Reporting to:        •    Director of People

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding HR Manager to join our strong central team. The successful candidate will have significant generalist HR experience, be adaptable, flexible and have an ambition to make a significant difference to the success of the Trust and the lives of young people. The Enquire Learning Trust covers 32 academies and is a growing provider of primary education across the North of England, committed to providing each child with an excellent educational experience for future success.

Whilst the role is primarily based at the central office in Wakefield, the role will require significant travel between each of our academies in Manchester, Hull, Grimsby and North Yorkshire. As such, the successful candidate must be willing (and able) to travel often with some visits requiring overnight stays.

Main responsibilities:

•    Provide professional advice and support on all aspects of HR policy, procedure, employment legislation and best practice to the senior leadership team of the central trust and academies.
•    Build effective relationships with academy leadership, taking time to understand their work and requirements so as to be able to act in a full business partner capacity.
•    Assist in the creation and implementation of policies and procedures in relation to all aspects of the employment relationship, including the harmonisation of policies across all individual academy units.
•    Assist with organisational change projects across the Trust including taking the lead on smaller scale restructuring programmes. 
•    Assist with employee relations/casework issues including holding own caseload of discipline, grievance, sickness absence and capability. 
•    Lead on TUPE transfers as required and provide advice and support in relation to cultural alignment following such transfers.
•    Attend and occasionally lead on the Trust’s JCC, developing positive working relationships with trade unions across the organisation.
•    Develop and maintain the Trust’s HR system ensuring that effective record keeping is in place and processes are efficient and effective.
•    Coordinate the occupational health service including arranging appointments, coordinating the relevant paperwork and reviewing medical reports from the occupational health team, providing advice to management on next steps.
•    Assist in recruitment within academies when required by drafting job descriptions, writing job adverts, advertising posts and assisting in the selection process where required.
•    Oversight of the single central record for the central Trust team.
•    Provision of information to Payroll in relation to any ongoing HR issues including directions for redundancy, terminations or variations to contract.
•    Monitor the CPD offer across the organisation, evaluating effectiveness and reporting any areas for development.
•    Undertake different projects as and when required, within the remit of human resources.
•    Responsible for the line management and development of central HR posts.
•    Provision of additional support to the Director of People where required.
•    To undertake any other duties within the general scope of this role.
