Are you passionate about HR and rewards? Do you have a history of devising and delivering reward strategies? Are you excited by the chance to take on a new challenge at a unique organisation? If so, this could be your job, bigger.

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications safely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. Our work couldn’t happen without our colleagues, who use their expertise every day to achieve incredible things around the world. And it’s vital that, in return, their salary is appropriate, reviewed regularly and paid on time. That all begins with a robust reward strategy that supports our wider strategic aims. And that’s where you’ll come in.

Deliver the pay strategy for a one-of-a-kind organisation

As HR Reward Lead you’ll be responsible for overseeing pay and rewards across FCDO Services. From job evaluation and pay benchmarking, to resolving salary disputes and reviewing job descriptions, everything you do will ensure your colleagues receive the rewards that reflect their hard work. You’ll keep a keen eye on our pay-related policies, and ensure they’re maintained, updated and consistently applied. And, together with your team, ensure work is always accurate and delivered within agreed SLAs.

As an experienced negotiator you’ll lead annual pay negotiations with our Trade Unions, FCDO Services operates a collective bargaining framework and has delegation for pay related terms and conditions for the organisation for all staff below the senior civil service.

Aside from this, you’ll also use your expertise to advise senior managers and develop and implement the annual pay award. Your attention to detail will be key as you undertake pay benchmarking and complete research into pay trends and influences. And as you work closely with the systems and insights team, you’ll ensure all reward reconciliation, reporting and system requirements are met. This role is integral to the smooth running of our historic organisation, and perfect for someone who wants to combine the sense of purpose you’ll find in the public sector with commercially-minded ways of working.

Lead and contribute to a global purpose

You’ll be passionate about reward and have experience of devising and delivering a reward strategy for a unique organisation. In addition, you’ll bring with you an understanding of the wider reward landscape and current trends and challenges facing employers in this area. And you’ll have knowledge of legislation that’s relevant to reward, along with an understanding of best practice working in the public sector. You’ll also be up for the challenge that comes with working for our unique organisation, and ensuring our innovative pay system keeps its focus on skills and career progression, while remaining compliant with Civil Service pay policy and audit requirements.

And when it comes to your working style, you’ll be easy to work with, great at building relationships and a natural team player. Able to manage your workload while working at pace, you’ll also be adept at analysing and evaluating data, able to make effective decisions, and someone who’s always looking for opportunities to change and improve processes. On top of this, you’ll be reliable and responsive as you work with your immediate colleagues, senior leaders, union representatives and partners across wider government to keep everything running smoothly.

Grow your career in unexpected ways

And as for what we do for you, we offer a competitive salary, 25 days rising to 30 days annual leave per year (one additional day per year of service) and a Civil Service pension. We also invest in our people – so you’ll have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café and a restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Dependant on business need, you’ll also have the option to work from home in a hybrid way. Then there’s the fact we offer your job, bigger. With FCDO Services, you’ll have the chance to use your passion for HR and reward to contribute to a purpose you just won’t find anywhere else. And when it comes to career progression, this role could only be the beginning of your journey with us. With opportunities to progress into more senior HR roles or move into a completely different area of our organisation, we’ll support you to forge a career you can feel truly excited by.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you’ll need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our process to achieve Security Clearance (SC). You can find out more about vetting on our website: fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/.

The closing date for applications is 1st October 2023.
