The starting salary is £45,073, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

The Metropolitan Police Service is looking for an exceptional individual to help drive the MPS’ transition to a learning organisation. This is an exciting and challenging role requiring energy, an inquisitive experiential mind-set and powerful people skills.

Organisational Learning is about designing and implementing the structures, processes and behaviours that capture knowledge from external, corporate and local sources across disciplines, improving what we do and holding knowledge as corporate memory. Amongst the first UK police forces to design a systemic framework, we are now implementing across the MPS. 

As an Organisational Learning Lead you will head a small team tasked to operationalise the MPS’ Organisational Learning network, engaging senior leaders and subject experts. You will be responsible for managing and analysing organisational learning to ensure that risks and opportunities are clear, and that causal analysis, evaluation and learning have a route to action. You will ensure that learning is thematically evaluated and implemented, including at Strategic Groups.

You will use technology to develop effective organisational learning pathways and improve the speed and quality of knowledge capture. You will champion learning and knowledge sharing behaviours and an organisational culture of inquisitive learning, evidential practice and reflective thinking. 

The Strategic Insight Unit develops and delivers insight and evaluation across the Metropolitan Police through a team including analysts, social and behavioural scientists. We provide strategic insight into learning derived from neighbourhood policing, public protection, serious and organised crime, operational support and counter-terrorism, and on explicit issues such as policing culture, operational practice and community-led learning. We also support policing research and evaluations, including national projects.

Please note this role requires expertise in knowledge management techniques and methodologies gained through recognised academic, workplace and professional environments. The role equally requires professional maturity and integrity, strong relational and communication skills and an understanding of team dynamics.
