This is a well-known large public sector organisation who is working exclusively with Hays HR on a newly created Head of People Operations position.
This is an exciting time to join as you'll be part of continuing to drive positive change across the organisation.
Working in the People Services Senior Management team, you will be driving the development and delivery of the organisational people strategy while being responsible for a large team within People Operations.

Your new role
Reporting to the HR Director, this role will be a varied, challenging and most of all, a hugely rewarding role. You will take on the responsibility of managing the People Services team (Business Partners, Employee Relations, Reward, Wellbeing and Occupational Health), managing and supporting their development, performance and stretching the team to their highest abilities.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Deputising for the HR Director (P&D) at board meetings to influence the People agenda.
  • Involved in leading the people agenda, developing and delivering the strategic people agenda
  • Part of the HR Senior Leadership team, contributing to the development and delivery of the organisations strategy and enabling the People strategy
  • Delivering and improving key HR services and ensuring they promote performance, engagement and support the strategic importance
  • Take a lead on strategic organisational change programmes, while overseeing the implementation of service improvement
  • Reviewing the HR operating model to ensure drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Taking a lead on influencing key stakeholders (Internal and external)
  • Partner with senior leaders to fully understand the broader organisational strategy and operational levers to drive a strategic people agenda
  • Evaluate, influence and challenge organisational design
  • Lead the Employee Relations strategy and operation
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of People Strategy delivery plans
  • Responsible for the talent attraction and retention to ensure the organisations focusses on their 5-year strategic workforce plan

To be successful on selection, you must be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in the following:

  • You will be an experienced strategic HR/ People Manager/ Leader who can partner with the organisation to deliver high quality strategic and operational workforce support
  • Experience working within an HR function for several years, with successful leadership and line management responsibilities of a large HR team
  • Ability to demonstrate experience developing and building strong internal and external relationships while influencing
  • Experience successfully delivering people-focused transformational change projects
  • Able to influence and drive business
  • Experience working within a centralised People service environment
  • Improvements on HR systems, policies, processes and practices
  • Have a strong understanding of people and strategic workforce planning
  • A strong leader that is approachable to all stakeholders
  • Union experience desirable
  • CIPD Qualified
