Oakleaf Partnership is working with one of the UK's leading transport providers who are seeking a Head of Industrial Relations to join their business. This pivotal role will support the development and implementation of a modern, partnership-based industrial relations strategy across their UK sites through effective communication and negotiation with trade unions and senior leadership teams. This is an incredibly exciting and unique opportunity for the business that requires someone who is a real specialist in this area. The role offers flexibility with remote working but requires regular travel to various sites in the UK.
What is the role?
As the Head of Industrial Relations, you will steer and shape the strategy and relationships with unions. You will develop and implement an IR strategy that aligns with business goals and objectives, support negotiations around wage, working conditions and employment terms, resolve industrial disputes to minimise disruption, collaborate with Managers in Policy and Employee Relations to create and review industrial relations policies, ensuring legal compliance and best practice. You will also cultivate strong relationships with unions, legal advisors and government bodies, coach and train managers and HR colleagues on industrial relations best practice and track industrial relations trends to report regularly to senior management on negotiations and dispute.
Candidate profile/experience
The successful candidate will have real skill and experience within industrial relations roles and have a strong understanding of the IR landscape at national level. You will be used to partnering with senior leaders and be a strong coach and developer. This is a strategic role within a national business so a similar size remit would be advantageous. You will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and influence business leaders. You will be forward thinking and a keen problem solver who is great with turning data into insight.
