Description

As the standalone HR Manager, UK & Ireland (Pharma), your key job purposes will include:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives to help drive the overall UK business strategy which are aligned with the Global People & Culture strategy, policies and processes.
  • Support the implementation and effective ongoing operation of global People & Culture processes within UK and IE.
  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day HR function in the UK.
  • Member of the UK Management Team. Input into and support the Region UK and corporate business strategy.
  • Data Protection Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for the management of the lifecycle of employees:
  • Recruitment.
  • Onboarding and induction.
  • Performance Management.
  • Development.
  • Leaving process (including Exit Interviews).
  • Effective development and line management of the HR team (1 x direct report).
  • Strategic management of UK headcount in close collaboration with the Country Manager and Management Team, including reviewing organisational structures.
  • Development of local HR policies and practices that complement global People & Culture policies. Lead HR processes and their continuous development and improvement. Ensure all relevant process and policy documents including the Employment Guide are up to date and comply with current legislation.
  • Responsibility for Learning and Development within the UK, building UK capabilities and utilising existing skills effectively:
  • Provision of relevant HR training.
  • Logistical support for other training needs.
  • Providing / sourcing training to upskill line managers and employees where necessary.
  • Training needs analysis.
  • Assess individual training requests.
  • Responsible person for data protection:
  • Ensuring all GDPR processes are followed.
  • All data maps, privacy notices and registers are up to date.
  • Active member of the Privacy network.
  • Responsible for all Health and Safety issues and liaising with Health and Safety consultants for advice in relation to specific issues. Responsible for ensuring compliance with UK H&S regulations. Chair the Health & Safety Committee for the UK sites.
  • Local system expert for the HR system.
  • Process owner for HR administration tasks for example creating and updating contracts of employment.
  • Process owner for relevant annual HR cycles for example the performance management process, annual salary review, bonus process etc.
  • Responsible for liaising with lawyers on legal issues.
  • Responsible for absence management and liaising with Occupational Health.
  • Process owner for all benefits packages and liaising with broker in relation to these.
  • Timely benchmarking of policies and practices commensurate with the size of business. Producing HR KPIs, HR data and input into salary surveys.
  • Support the Finance team to manage the monthly payroll.

This role offers hybrid working and requires the post-holder to work from the office in central Reading 3 days per week - free parking is included.

Profile

To apply for the role of HR Manager, UK & Ireland (Pharma), your profile will closely match the following:

  • Ideally you can demonstrate strong HRM/Senior HR experience within an SME environment.
  • Would also be able to evidence working within a bigger/international/global structure and as such has implemented global processes/projects at a local or national level.
  • Strong Generalist background.
  • Happy being hands-on as well as defining and delivering the HR strategy.
  • Pharma/Life Science industry experience would be highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases (Oracle preferred).
  • Holds a relevant Professional qualification (for example CIPD or similar) or studying towards.
  • Appropriate evidence of continuous learning.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Responsible and accountable.
  • Resourceful and creative.
  • Effectively uses interpersonal skills.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Commercially aware and profitability conscious.

Job Offer

This HR Manager, UK & Ireland (Pharma) role offers a very generous overall package including:

  • Highly competitive base salary.
  • Car allowance - £748 per month.
  • Discretionary bonus scheme.
  • 25 days holiday plus Bank Holiday - rises with Long Service Awards. You have the option to buy an additional 5 days.
